A. Objective

1. Create a visually interesting online screen based project that "deconstructs" either the MFACA SVA or the School of Visual Arts web site.

2. Use ideas inspired by our class discussions about appropriation, recycling, aternate web browsing, 'web sampling' and deconstruction.

3. Think about the images and text you are using. Are you appropriating them? Manipulating them? Are you just "cutting and pasting" them?

4. Think about common web interface elements: naviagation bars, banners, links. How are you addressing them in your art work?

5. Pay careful attention to your screen composition, design and navigation.

B. Technical Requirements

1. Create 3-5 hyperlinked web pages.

2. Delivery must be online, yet you can use any softwares/language. Upload all files to your server space

C. Aesthetic Requirements

1. Create a project that is both technically and visually engaging. Experiment with the following elements: standard navigation concepts, logical linking structures, manipulated imagery, fragmentation of text and images, linear vs. non-linear structures, the web as a subversive tool.

2. Again, play with text, color, screen real estate, browser and navigation metaphors.

3. Look at the links we viewed in class for some inspiration and ideas.

D. Due Dates

1. schematic/project overview due week 4.

2. Completed Midterm assignment due week 8.
