A. Objective

With a few exceptions, most of you are new to New York City. For the subject of your first assignment in Network Media, I would like you to explore an aspect of the city. It can be its people, neighborhoods, architecture, landmarks, food, energy, politics, ethnic diversity, confusing parking rules, or any other NYC topic your wish to choose.

1. Create a visually interesting online screen based project that explores one aspect of New York City.

2. If you are new to HTML, explore some of the basic tags just introduced and focus on text treatments.

3. If you are familiar with HTML and /or other web apps, please feel free to use them in your project.

4. Create a project that is both technically and visually engaging. Experiment with the following elements: standard navigation concepts, site architecture, manipulated imagery, fragmentation of text and images, linear vs. non-linear structures. Consider how your imagery and content relate to one another.

5. Look at some of the examples below for inspiration both compositionally and conceptually.
